Your financial wellness is our mission.
Waypoint Financial Education Center
From building a first budget to planning a first home, our certified counselors sit down with members at no charge and work through it in plain language.
How our Certified Counselors Can Help
Waypoint has Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors on staff. Sessions are free to members, there is nothing to buy at the end, and nothing you say leaves the room.
- Building a budget that survives contact with a real month.
- Setting financial goals and working out the order to tackle them in.
- Putting together a debt repayment plan you can actually keep to.
- Working out which account or loan genuinely suits what you are trying to do.
- Reading a credit report properly, and knowing which parts move a score.

Financial Education in Local Schools
Waypoint runs Financial Reality Fairs at Connecticut high schools with the Connecticut Credit Union Charitable Foundation and the Connecticut Credit Union League. Students pick a career, get a salary and a set of debts, then try to live on it for ninety minutes. Most leave with a different view of a budget.
Waypoint hosts three fairs a year: NFA in April, Killingly in May, and Fitch in December.
Teachers and administrators can reach us at meg.martellotta@waypointcu.org.
Students choose from a wide range of careers and receive a starting salary to match.
Student loan debt, credit card debt, and a credit score are assigned with the career.
Students visit stations for housing, transport, food, and clothing, and pay for their choices.
Each student finishes with a counselor, who talks through the choices they made.
Common Questions
Nothing. Financial counseling is part of your membership. There is no fee, no product you have to buy, and no obligation at the end of the conversation.
No. Booking a counseling session does not pull your credit, does not change your accounts, and is not recorded as an application for anything. It is a conversation.
Bring Us the Question You Have Been Avoiding
Most people wait longer than they need to. A free session with a certified counselor takes less time than the worrying does.
