Waypoint Credit Union Member Benefits
Waypoint has no outside shareholders. What the credit union earns comes back to the people who own it, and that changes what membership is worth.
A Different Kind of Financial Institution
A credit union is a cooperative. Members put their money in, members borrow it back, and the earnings stay inside the circle instead of going to investors. That is why decisions here get made close to home and why the answer to a hard question is usually a person you can reach.

Members use Waypoint for the ordinary things and the large ones. Here are a few of the moments where being a member changes the math.
- Saving toward a first home, with a savings account or a share certificate doing the waiting for you.
- Financing a vehicle without starting from scratch at a dealership finance desk.
- Consolidating higher-cost debt into one payment you can actually plan around.
- Sitting down with a certified financial counselor at no charge, before a decision gets made.
- Planning for retirement with someone local who will explain the trade-offs in plain language.

Common Questions
Deposits at Waypoint are federally insured to at least $250,000 per individual depositor by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government. That is the same coverage level banks carry through the FDIC, from a different federal agency.
No. A membership share can be opened with as little as $0.01 in a branch, or $5 online. That share is your ownership stake in the credit union, and it stays yours for as long as you are a member.
It depends which credit union you came from. If you were a CorePlus member, nothing changes: your account numbers stay, your card stays until it expires, and online banking carries over. If you were a Scient member, your account and debit card numbers change, direct deposits need updating, and you download the Waypoint app on Monday, September 28, 2026.
No. The contents of a safe deposit box are not insured by the NCUA or by Waypoint. A box gives you a secure place to keep documents and valuables, and many members add coverage through their own homeowner or renter policy.
