Important Disclosures
Beneficial Ownership. In May 2016, the U.S. government passed a regulation regarding the beneficial ownership of legal entity customers. Under this regulation, all financial institutions are required to identify the ultimate beneficial owner(s) and a controlling person of a legal entity customer when opening or maintaining an account. To comply with this regulation, Waypoint Credit Union will collect beneficial ownership information from legal entity customers. This requirement became effective on May 11th, 2018. When an account is opened or maintained for a legal entity, we may request information to identify the ultimate beneficial owner(s) and controlling person of the legal entity. The required information includes name, address, date of birth, identification number, and other information that will help us identify these individuals. This information may need to be collected whether or not the individual is a Waypoint Credit Union member. Existing legal entity members who were onboarded prior to May 11th, 2018 may also be asked to provide beneficial ownership information during the course of normal business, including when establishing a new or additional account. We understand that some of the information we are required to request is personal and sensitive. Please know that we take your privacy seriously.
